Student Guardian Visa
The Student Guardian visa enables a family member to stay in Australia to care for the welfare of a student visa holder under the age of 18. More information on this visa can be found in Form 1234i, Applying for a student guardian visa.

The average processing time for the Student Guardian visa is 20 working days.
The document checklist for Student Guardian visa applicants is:
- Form 157G, Application for a Student Guardian visa
- Form 157N, Nomination of a student guardian
- If an agent or authorised recipient is appointed, Form 956, Appointment of a migration agent or exempt agent or other authorised recipient
- A valid passport
- Visa application charge
- If the student has already been granted a Student visa, copy of the student’s passport and Student visa
- Evidence of financial capacity issued within 1 week prior to the application* (eg. Deposit Balance Certificate)
- Original Overseas Visitor Health Cover arrangement evidence**
- Family Relation Certificate
- Form 80, Personal particulars for character assessment
- If you have lived in a certain country for a total period of 12 months during the last 10 years prior to the application, penal clearance from each country is required. Refer to Character requirements penal clearance certificates for information on obtaining penal clearance. For Korea, refer to Korea National Police Clearance.
See: Korea National Police Clearance - If you have dependent children under 6 years old included/not included in the application, a statement explaining the compassionate and compelling reasons for including/not including the dependent in the application is required with a consent letter from the other biological parent.
- Health examination at a designated panel hospital
* Financial evidence must cover the applicant’s living costs(1,000 AUD per month) and air fare costs(2,000 AUD). If a dependent child is included in the application, an additional living cost of 2,400 AUD is required.
** OVHC must cover the minimun period of 12 months. If a dependent child is included in the application, OVHC arrangements must also cover the dependent.

Please note:
- All documents not in English must be translated by a certified translator.
- All documents included in the application must be original documents or a certified copy of the original document.
- Student Guardian visa cannot be applied online.
- Where a School Sector Student visa (subclass 571) applies for a visa online and the guardian applies for a Student Guardian visa at the Visa Section of the Australian Embassy Seoul, the Student Guardian visa applicant should ensure that the student's online Transaction Reference Number(TRN) is included with the visa application when they apply.
