Internship at the Australian Embassy, Seoul

The DAFF (Department of Agriculture, Fisheries & Forestry) Section of the Australian Embassy in Seoul is seeking applications from university students to graduates interested in undertaking a three month to six month internship. The application should include a CV and a letter in English addressing the selection criteria below. Applications should be e-mailed to hyunaep@daum.net by 20 August 2008 at the latest.

Short-listed applicants will be asked to visit Australian Embassy for an interview. The successful applicant is requested to work for two days of the week and will be required to undertake a security check. The position is unsalaried but does include a daily meal and transportation allowance.

Internship Duties and Selection Criteria

Under the direction of Embassy Market Access manager , the intern will be asked to:

• support translation of the Korean government notices, news and letters from Korean into English.

• support interpretation for the Agriculture Counsellor when Market Access Manager is absent

• monitor Korean media and the Korean government notices as required

• support the DAFF Section’s filing system, research work, arrange appointments with the government agencies and industry.

• provide general office administrative support, including maintaining the DAFF section’s Resource area;

The Embassy is looking for an enthusiastic worker, keen to learn more about agriculture, quarantine and food safety of Australia and Korea. The position requires well developed English proficiency. Those who have background and knowledge in the agriculture and food safety would be an advantage.

Work Schedule: 2 days a week 9:00-12:30, 13:30-17:00.
