Call for applications: Australia-Korea Emerging Research Leaders Exchange Program

The Australian Academy of Technological Sciences and Engineering (ATSE) and the National Research Foundation of Korea (NRF) are co-sponsoring the “Australia-Korea Emerging Research Leaders Exchange Program” and looking for applications.

The Program provides opportunities for mid–career researchers of both countries, who are emerging leaders in the science and technology community, to undertake two weeks of institutional placements in agreed-upon priority S&T areas. The Program gives participants access to leading experts of the other country. In so doing, it contributes to advancing technological exchange and establishing institutional linkages, while leading to possible joint research projects and workshops in the future. The results will contribute to the continued advancement of science, technology and economic development between Korea and Australia.

Areas of exchange
Scientific and technological areas of exchange may include a maximum of three priority research fields as mutually decided upon between the agencies. These topical areas are to have a focus applied to enhancing mutual economic and societal benefits for both economies, in light of the prevailing economic situation.

Possible Topic areas for the exchange could focus on:
• Promotion of healthy ageing and well-being
• Capturing the benefits of ICT in a digital economy
• ENVIRONMENTAL SUSTAINABILITY - Transforming the way we use our land, water, agriculture, mineral and energy resources through a better understanding of human environmental systems and the use of new technologies

Eligibility of applicants
Participants are to be mid–career researchers who work in an Australian or Korean research institution in one of the agreed-upon priority research fields and who are emerging leaders in the S&T research community. Australian participants must be permanent residents of Australia to be eligible to apply. Korean participants must be Korean nationals or permanent residents of Korea to apply.

Online application will be available from 26th March to 15th April. Please click here for more information.
