Electronic Travel Authority (ETA)

Electronic Travel Authority (ETA) is an electronic approval for passengers to travel to Australia for a holiday or on business. ETA is an electronic record, not a label or stamp in your passport. Korea citizens with a number of other nationals may apply for ETA. You can apply for an ETA through your airline or travel agent at the time you book your ticket to Australia. You can also apply for an ETA online. 20 AUD will be charged for the Internet service. For information on eligibility, conditions and applying on-line, please refer to the Australian Electronic Travel Authority website.
See: Australian Electronic Travel Authority

There are three types of ETAs for eligible passport holders.

Most ETA applications are granted electronically within 1 minute at travel agencies or airlines. However, in a small number of cases your ETA will not be granted electronically and you will be referred by your agent or airline to the Australian Embassy for further processing of your visa application. We therefore recommend that you apply for your ETA at least 5 working days in advance of your planned departure date.
If you do not meet ETA requirements you will need to apply for another type of visa which suits your travel purpose.

NOTE FOR TRAVEL AGENTS:
When applying for ETA, some passengers may not be granted and “Refer to Australian Embassy” message will show on the bottom. In this case, please fax a copy of the message and the personal details page of the passenger's passport to the Visa Office at 02 720 9932. Please ensure this fax is sent at least 3 working days before the passenger is due to depart.
